Waikato Table Tennis is a venue that supports para-athletes regionally but also nationally for competitions. While there are two disabled parks (each with the median on different sides), and a smooth path to the entrance which is wheelchair accessible and has a flat entry, there are a few features not included within the venue’s accessibility. The front door is decently heavy and could be hard to open independently depending on your function/mobility/mobility aid, this is sometimes left open during club nights and competitions. The biggest accessibility limitation is the lack of an accessible toilet. While there are flat-entry showers, they do not include a fold-down shower seat or grab rails, limiting their usability for many disabled visitors. Changing spaces include wooden benches, and plenty of turning space for a wheelchair. The playing areas give plenty of room for those in wheelchairs and with impairments to play and participate, and is fully flat, however some of the seating area walkways can be tight to get through when people are sitting down on the seats. Overall, Waikato Table Tennis provides a welcoming venue with good access to the playing areas and suitable space for para table tennis, both players and spectators. However, the lack of an accessible toilet and fully accessible shower facilities means some visitors may need to plan ahead or require assistance during longer events.
